Jasper AI alternatives, including free options

Jasper suits marketing teams that want brand rules built in. If that is more than you need, or more than you want to pay, these are the main alternatives.

Jasper suits marketing teams that want brand voice, product facts and agents in one shared place. If that is more than you need, or more than you want to pay, there are good alternatives. Some are free.

Prices and features below are as of October 2026. For reference, Jasper Pro costs $69 per seat a month, or $59 billed yearly, with a 7-day trial (Jasper pricing). If you are comparing it with one tool in particular, read Jasper AI vs ChatGPT.

First, decide what you need from Jasper

People usually pick Jasper for one of three things. Your alternative depends on which one.

  • A brand voice that every draft follows. Any assistant can do this with a voice file. A team tool does it with less setup.
  • Product facts in one place. A context file or a project in a general assistant covers this.
  • Marketing workflows for a team. Here you need a team platform, such as Copy.ai.

General assistants with free plans

ChatGPT. A general assistant for writing, planning and research. Free plan available. Paid plans start at $8 a month in the US with Go, and Plus is $20 a month (ChatGPT pricing). Projects hold files and instructions for one area of work. Suits a solo owner who wants one tool for many jobs.

Claude. A general assistant with a free plan. Pro is $20 a month, or $17 billed yearly (Claude pricing). Long documents open beside the chat and can be exported to Word, PDF or Google Docs (artifacts). Suits owners who write longer pieces such as proposals and guides.

Gemini. Google's assistant, with a free plan. Google AI Plus is $4.99 a month in the US and adds Gemini in Gmail (Gemini plans). Suits businesses that already live in Gmail and Google Docs.

If you are torn between these three, there are side-by-side guides for ChatGPT and Claude and Gemini and ChatGPT.

Marketing and team platforms

Copy.ai. A platform for sales and marketing teams. The Chat plan costs $29 a month, or $24 a month billed yearly, and includes five seats. It gives access to models from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google in one place (Copy.ai pricing). It has a Brand Voice feature built from your writing samples (Brand Voice) and Infobase, a store for company facts. The pricing page does not list a free plan. Suits a small team that wants shared brand settings at a lower price per person.

Notion AI. Built into the Notion workspace. It can draft and edit pages, search your workspace and connected apps, and summarise meetings (Notion AI FAQ). It comes with the Business plan at $20 per member a month. Free and Plus plans get a limited trial (Notion pricing). Suits teams whose plans and docs already live in Notion.

An editing tool

Grammarly. Checks and rewrites your text as you type in Gmail, Google Docs, Word, Slack and other apps (where Grammarly works). The free plan includes 100 AI prompts a month. Pro costs $12 per member a month billed yearly, or $30 billed monthly, and adds tone changes, full rewrites, a style guide and a brand tone (Grammarly plans, Pro pricing). Suits people who write their own drafts and want them polished.

Free alternatives: rebuild Jasper's key parts yourself

Jasper's Brand Voice and Knowledge Base cover two things: how you sound and what is true about your business. You can write both down once, in one file, and use it in any free tool.

Your voice and facts file

What I sell: [one sentence, with the price].

Who buys: [who, and what they were doing before they found you].

How I write: [five to ten rules, such as short sentences and no exclamation marks].

Words I never use: [your banned list].

Two samples: [paste two short pieces you wrote and like].

Paste it at the top of a chat, or add it to a project. For help writing each part, see how to give AI context about your business and the brand voice guidelines template.

The trade-off is upkeep. A team tool applies the rules for you. With a file, you keep it current and check each draft yourself.

How to choose

  • Working alone, on a tight budget: a general assistant on a free plan, plus your file.
  • Writing mostly in Gmail or Docs: Gemini, or Grammarly on top of what you use.
  • A small team writing for one brand: Copy.ai or Notion AI, depending on where your work already lives.
  • A marketing team that needs strict brand control: Jasper may still be the right fit.

Nive is being built for this problem: you write how your business works and how you sound once, and each draft is checked against it. Join the waitlist to get the demo first.

Questions people ask

What is the best free alternative to Jasper AI?

ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini all have free plans with usage limits. Add your own voice file and context file, and they can cover most of what a small business uses Jasper for.

Which Jasper alternative is closest to Jasper?

Copy.ai is the closest in shape. It is a platform for sales and marketing teams, with a brand voice feature and a store for company facts.

Can a free tool keep my brand voice?

Yes, with some setup. Keep your samples, rules and banned words in one file and add it to every writing task. You check the drafts yourself.

Do I need a marketing AI tool at all?

If you work alone, a general assistant with a good brief is often enough. Dedicated tools help most when several people write for one brand.
