A good prompt gives ChatGPT the facts it needs and asks for one clear thing. These fifteen are ready to copy.

A good prompt gives ChatGPT the facts it needs and asks for one clear thing. These fifteen prompts are ready to copy. They work in Claude and Gemini too.

First: give it your business

Every prompt below works far better if the model knows your business. Write a short context page once and paste it first, or save it in the tool's custom instructions.

Your business context

My business: [what you sell, in one sentence, with the price].

My customers: [who buys, and why].

How I write: [three rules, such as short sentences, no jargon, no exclamation marks].

Never: [things to avoid, such as discounts or promises about results].

There is a full guide to writing that page.

Marketing

1. Post ideas

Give me 10 ideas for LinkedIn posts for my business, based on questions customers often ask. For each, write the first line only.

2. A product description

Write a product description for [product]. The buyer is [who]. Lead with the main benefit, then the key details: [size, material, care]. Under 100 words. No words like "premium" or "high quality".

3. Newsletter topics

Suggest 12 newsletter topics for the next year, one per month, that would be useful to my customers. Mostly help, one or two offers.

4. A clearer home page

Here is my home page text: [paste]. Rewrite the first two lines so a stranger understands in five seconds who I help and why to choose me.

Sales

5. A follow-up email

Write a short follow-up to a lead who asked about my price and then went quiet for a week. Under 60 words, one new detail, one easy question at the end.

6. Objections

List the five most likely reasons a customer would hesitate to buy from me, and a short, honest answer to each.

7. A quote

Turn these notes into a clear quote with sections for work, included, not included, price, payment and valid until: [paste notes].

Customer service

8. A complaint reply

A customer wrote this complaint: [paste]. Write a reply that thanks them, says back the problem, apologises for the specific thing, and offers [what you can offer]. Under 120 words.

9. An FAQ

Here are customer emails from last month: [paste, with personal details removed]. Find the 10 most common questions and write a short answer to each.

10. Saying no kindly

A client asked for [request], which is outside our agreement. Write a short, friendly reply that says no to doing it for free and offers to quote it separately.

Planning and operations

11. A checklist

Turn these notes on how I onboard a new client into a numbered checklist, one action per step: [paste notes].

12. A weekly plan

Here are my tasks for the week: [paste]. Sort them into must do, should do and can wait, and suggest which to do first.

13. A decision

I am deciding between [option A] and [option B]. Ask me five questions that would help me decide, one at a time.

14. Meeting notes

Turn these rough notes into a short summary with decisions, actions, owners and dates: [paste].

15. A tough email

Help me write a firm but polite email to [who] about [problem]. Keep it short and factual, and end with one clear request.

Check before you send

ChatGPT writes with confidence even when it is wrong. Check prices, numbers, names and anything legal. Never paste passwords, card numbers or customers' private data into a chat tool.

If the drafts sound generic, the fix is usually more context, not a longer prompt. See how to make AI sound like you. If it keeps losing details in long chats, here is why ChatGPT forgets.

Questions people ask

What are the best ChatGPT prompts for a small business?

The ones that include your business facts and ask for one specific output. A short prompt with good context beats a long prompt with none.

Do these prompts work in Claude and Gemini too?

Yes. They are plain instructions, so they work in any AI assistant.

Can I trust what ChatGPT writes for my business?

Treat it as a first draft. Check facts, numbers, prices and anything legal before it reaches a customer.

How do I stop pasting the same business details every time?

Write them once in a short context page and save it in custom instructions or a project. Then each prompt only needs the task.
